| 内容記述 | Developmental changes in narcissistic vulnerability were investigated, by comparing scores of the Short Version of Narcissistic Vulnerability Scale (NVS) between older adults (80 men and 133 women; mean age, 69.23 years) and university students (62 men and 93 women; mean age, 21.11 years). Welch's t tests indicated that scores of older adults were significantly lower than scores of university students on three subscales of NVS with middle to high Cohen's ds: inhibition of self-exhibition, insufficient self-soothing, and hypersensitivity to approval/ admiration. We proposed a tendency for decreased narcissistic vulnerability during and after adulthood on the basis of findings from the treatment of narcissistic personality disorder. The sequence of separations of self- and other-representations could result in the reduced use of the narcissistic defenses by adequately, in the secure relationship with significant other, addressing the sense of ego incongruity that emerges from changes in social roles and physical attractions. | |||||
