| 内容記述 | イギリスに源流をもつ昔話「3 びきのくま」の日本における受容を調査したところ、明治期から昭和前期まで合計20 件であったが、1946 年から1965 年までの戦後20 年間には48 件を確認した。その多くは、未就学児や小学校低学年向けの絵本や雑誌に挿絵と共に掲載されたものであった。本論は、絵本を中心に第二次世界大戦後20 年間の「3 びきのくま」の受容について考察した。戦後最初の絵本である『三びきのくま』（大日本雄弁会講談社 1952）をはじめとして、絵本や幼年雑誌に掲載された「3 びきのくま」の挿絵は、戦後しばらくの間はアメリカ文化への憧れがうかがえるものが多く、ストーリーは、女の子と熊が仲良くなる結末に改変された例が多数見られた。1957 年にレフ・トルストイ文の『さんびきのくま』（ヴェ・レーベデフ／絵 モスクワ：外国語図書出版所）が紹介され、物語本来の3 回繰り返しの定型や女の子が熊から逃げ去る結末が再認識された。福音館書店出版のトルストイ文、バスネツォフ画の『3 びきのくま』（1962 年）はロングセラー絵本となり、その後の「3 びきのくま」受容に影響を与えた。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | Examining the reception of the British folktale “The Story of the Three Bears” in Japan revealed a total of 20 instances from the Meiji period to the early Showa period, and a further 48 instances during the 20-year period after the war from 1946 to 1965. Most of these were published with illustrations in picture books and magazines aimed at preschoolers and lower elementary school children. This paper focuses its analysis on these picture books.Starting with the first postwar picture book, The Three Bears (Sanbiki no Kuma) (Dainippon Yubenkai-Kodansha, 1952), illustrations of this story published in picture books and children’s magazines often reflected an admiration for American culture, a sentiment that continued for some time after the war, with many adaptations altering the ending so the girl and the bears became friends. In 1957, the first introduction of Leo Tolstoy’s The Three Bears (illustrations by V. Lebedev; Moscow: Foreign Language Publishing House) reintroduced the story’s original thrice-repeating pattern, and the ending where the girl escapes from the bears. The 1962 edition of Tolstoy’s The Three Bears (illustrated by Vasnetsov, published by Fukuinkan Shoten) became a long-selling picture book and influenced subsequent interpretations of the story. | |||||||
